Flaine is not a resort for après entertainment as there are limited restaurants and bars, with this being a mainly self catered resort. Once off the slopes, friends and families tend to gather in the apartments for dinner and relaxation.
The Forum at the lower tier hosts a few bars and restaurants, predominantly Pizza Restaurants and even a take away pizza shop. and a bar/eaterie where the local reps tend to gather on an evening, there is also an ice-skating rink right in the centre along with the famous Picasso Sculpture.
On the main road of the resort their is a mini arcade with bar/restaurant which serves a variety of meats and local specialities, bowling alley and a few shops. as well as a supermarket.
Don't let this put you off as the resort offers excellent skiing. There are great cafes situated on the slopes even for the non skier, to get involved in the action. And a must to go in the large 20 minutes cable car Grande platières (DMC) at (2500m) up to the top of the mountain and enjoy a lunchtime buffet snack at Le Désert Blanc.
