The area immediately in and around Wengen boasts over 100km of high altitude skiing, set against the stunning scenery of the Jungfrau region and the Eiger, whilst the rest of the linked Jungfrau top ski region extends this range to 213km! Skiing is suitable for all abilities, with nursery slopes and a "slow speed zone" in Grindelwald for beginners, a range of runs on the Kleine Scheidegg mountain, including the 8km Oberjuch run, and powder slopes at Eigergletscher for intermediates, and the fearsome Lauberhorn World Cup and Black Rock runs. If this isn't enough, in nearby Murren is the nearly vertical Kanonenrohr, a truly challenging run indeed. Off-piste, there are over 30km of cross-country trails.
Boarders are well catered for, with 2 half pipes, a special jumper's corner at Wengen, a terrain park at Schreckfeld and great beginners runs. This season, the resort will host the 78th Lauberhorn ski race.
There are 2 ski schools in Wengen, both with good reputations, and years of experience with dealing with beginners and children.
